Now that the official draft order of SF, LA, NY and Boston has been finalized, would you still make those picks or does the order change some of these scenarios? Would love to read a follow-up article.
That's a great question - I can't speak for Kate, Mary, and Max, but honestly I don't think it would change much for me. The fact that I was playing "New York" was less of a factor than the fact I was picking first overall. So I bet Whitmore goes to San Francisco now that they've got the first overall pick.
Unfortunately, I haven’t seen enough of these players to make an educated guess. I recognize names from watching the WBSC Women’s World Cup last summer (which was excellent), as well as being a fan of Japanese women’s baseball. I am excited to get to know the players better!
I was lucky to see Ayami Sato pitch for the Maple Leafs a few times this summer (進めリーフス!). She is an amazing player, and an amazing ambassador for the game. She always had time for fans, especially the girls.
Thanks for reading, Aleesha! Agreed, I’m excited for a year of now when we’ve seen all of these women in game action and have hopefully learned a lot more about their stories. I have a bunch of Rising Fastball articles in my reading queue which I’m sure will help educate me as well ☺️
That’s so cool you got to see Sato! My experience with her was similar - she wrote an inscription on the ball she signed for me, and took the time to explain it to me in English so I knew what she wrote 💙
Looking forward to stealing some of these picks for a fantasy league next year!

Hey Rick,

But, we'll have to wait and see!
